Free Entrance to National Parks on January 20 (MLK)

Free Entrance to  National Parks on January 20

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, entrance fees to all 401 National Parks are being waived. In Colorado, we of course have the Rocky Mountain National Park, but we also have quite a few other gems as well:
  • Dinosaur Park
  • Mesa Verde
  • Old Spanish Historic Trail
  • Pony Express Trail
  • Sand Creek (Historical Site)
  • Santa Fe - Trail
  • Yucca House
These are just a few - Check out the Colorado Parks web site for the complete list: http://www.nps.gov/state/co

In addition to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the National Park Service will waive admission fees on eight other days in 2014 – Presidents Day weekend (February 15 through 17), the first weekend of National Park Week (April 19 and 20), the National Park Service’s 98th birthday (August 25), National Public Lands Day (September 27) and Veterans Day (November 11).

The Best Time to Buy Anything During the Year

Happy Hour at Trillium and a Show at The Marquis Theater (Vetta Starr Jan. 4th $10)

Good bye 2013 and Hello 2014! The new year is just kicking off and there are so many exciting events and businesses opening in the next few months. Keep posted for some of the best kept secrets and and a few of your favorites.

Happy Hour, a Concert, and Pizza

Happy Hour at Trillium

Start your evening at one of the most celebrated new restaurants of Denver. Trillium features a Scandinavian based menu. Westword Denver awarded the restaurant - 'The Best Steak Outside of a Steakhouse' . While the steak looks AMAZING on the menu (and I will be sure to try on another day!), it might be a bit heavy pre-concert and at $29 for the plate might kill the budget before the night kicks off. I am recommending to try their Happy Hour in the bar and lounge. Daily drink specials are available Tuesday - Sunday (closed Mon.) and $6 plates - All of which look to be pretty tasty and something a little different that I don't get to try every day.

Yelp Review for Trillium

The Marquis Theater - Vetta Starr, Jan. 4th, $10

About a block away from Trillium is the Marquis Theater. They typically have several concerts booked every week. The venue is on the smaller side, which is actually pretty great, because you can usually always see the stage. The bartenders are great! Fast, efficient, and friendly. I was at the Marquis for the Flobot's NYE party and I wish I would of gotten the name of the bartender that served me. She remembered my name and I know that she remembered the names of my friends too!

On Saturday, January 4th (Doors at 7pm), Vetta Starr is playing with special guests: Anthony Ruptak, Branded Bandits, and Michelle Mandico. Tickets are only $10! If you buy your tickets online and print at home, frequently you will also get a coupon for $1 off food at the Marquis. I bought two GIANT slices of really delicious pizza and it only cost me about $6 bucks. Well worth the money!
