Deviled Eggs in Denver

The deviled egg has traditionally been the staple of picnics and Easter brunch. However in the past five years, I would say that it has been appearing more frequently on Denver menus in both traditional and playful varieties. Below I have 3 of my favorite Deviled Eggs in Denver.

Sassafras Deviled Eggs

Sassafrass American Eatery specializes in southern-style home cookin', serving breakfast and lunch. Fried green tomatoes, biscuits and (house-made) gravy,  and made-to-order-mac and cheese, are staples of the eatery's menu, but one of the stars is the Deviled Egg. The eggs feature bacon salt, spicy/sweet pickled jalapeno jam, topped with minced house-made pickles and sprinkled with arugula. Yum! Sassafras now has two Denver locations; one in the Highlands and one in Capitol Hill.

Second Home Deviled Egg Flight 

If you are in the mood for a deviled egg, but want a little variety Second Home Kitchen and Bar in Cherry Creek might be a good start. They offer a flight of deviled eggs including: Traditional, Cured Salmon, and a Jalapeno Glazed Bacon. Second Home has the chic atmosphere, but home-cooked flavors with a sophisticated twist.

Pinche Tacos Chipotle Deviled Eggs 

Surprise! Pinche Tacos has more than tacos. While the namesake is the feature of the menu, during happy hour you can order the Chipotle Deviled Eggs. As the name suggests, these eggies have a chipotle puree mixed into the yolk mixture and is topped with crispy chorizo, cotija cheese, cilantro, and diced onions.

Plinth Gallery First Friday Reception for Tom Kerrigan 6/6/14 - Desert Inspired Ceramics

Plinth Gallery features unique and contemporary ceramic art. On Friday June 6th from 5-9pm, there will be an opening reception for Arizona based artist, Tom Kerrigan. I saw the below image from Thomas Kerrigan's website, and was blown away by this installation. I can't wait to see more of his work. I you can't make it to the opening reception, the exhibition will be up through July 26th.

Tony Winning Play, Copenhagen tickets 50% off and The Tavern Lowry Happy Hour

The John Hand Theater in the Lowry neighborhood is a bit of a hidden gem. In fact, Google maps didn't immediately pull up the location. The 89 seat theater has an engaging and brilliantly directed lineup for the current season, and the current play Copenhagen is no exception. Copenhagen is a drama that takes place in Nazi era that features complex friendship, physics and an atomic bomb. All of which has real-life implications for the war.

The Tavern Lowry - Happy Hour and Specials

Godzilla! See the Japanese Original and Score Free Godzilla Gear!

There is nothing quite like the first monster movies from Japan. The garish creature costumes, obvious special effects, and the 'Americanized' dubbing all add to the Godzilla movie magic. Tonight through May 15th at Sie Film Center, you can see the original in its full glory in honor of the 60th anniversary of the film. The original release in 1954 had 40 minutes of the Japanese version cut-out of the film, but tonight you can see it uncut.
